92: New Year's Lan

Sam is back in Bundy for the new year and will have both boardgames and his gaming PC so let's arrange an all day event to kill some time. Parents will be home so it'll need to be somewhat civilised but we can use either the dining room or lounge room for PCs and the other for boardgames (both airconditioned) depending on how many people can be bothered to lug their desktops over.

WHEN: Saturday 2nd of Jan . ~10am to Late

WHERE: Sam's parent's place. Ask on Facebook page for exact address

WHAT: For PC I don't have anything planned in particular so lets say Farming Simulator 2013. For board games I've got Cash n' Guns, Munchkin, Nuclear War, Worm Up plus whatever everyone else brings.

WHAT TO BRING: I'll try to source a bunch of snausages and bread for a sausage sizzle. Maybe parents will arrange a BBQ dinner otherwise it'll be snausages again. Everyone else grab some softdrink bottles and snacks and we'll see how we go

WHO: Sam will be there with some amount of family. Feel free to pop in and out during the day if you have other committments.

91: Advent is Coming

Will be the Sunday of the third advent candle. I can never recall which one is which and end up just guessing the fruits of the spirit. We had an RPG growing up where your weapons were the fruits of the spirit, the banana flew the fastest and furthest.
Ben is on holiday in town from the 12th to the 16th, so this is the only Sojourn scheduled for the wind room in December. More than likely the only Sojourn in December actually. Unless there are a heap of out-of-towners.

Seems most people have recently acquired "Rocket League" So I'll put that on the cards along with LOL as the main event. You should make certain that both these games are patched and running. Other than that my recent hobby horse has been Rocksmith, but while interesting not really suited to a Sojourn. Depending on who arrives I wouldn't mind practicing job hunting and going old school with Frozen Throne.

Also have a look at AoE II HD: As a lead in to the new years sojourn, along with SimFarm.....

WHEN: Sunday 13th December, after church till 12:30

WHERE: Wind Room

WHAT: Rocket League, LOL, Fun-Employed &Frozen Throne

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink here

WHO: Who's expected to be coming? Who is coming late? Who is leaving early? Who doesn't have a computer?

89: Gold Mine

After the last couple I think we probably don't need this website any more at all. I don't have any regular attendee's atm. Maybe we should all switch to Tricking? David warner got in the paper for that club, Though I thought it was just a group of mates. Or maybe we should have kept the Facebook page open to the public, would have got a few more random people then.

Anywho, the Gold Mine...
On the 31st I'm thinking of heading up to Nangandie (near where VRBones came from) to try my luck at gold panning, or at least have a nice walk in the bush near where gold has recently been found.

In preparation for this I was thinking of a Church-Sojourn, seems a few of our youth still play a lot of Minecraft.

Resources

Persons of interest: Jess, Lauren, Courtney, Cameron, Rachael & Sasha
Potential Leaders: Josh, Tony & Ben
Community room has: A/C ~4XP machines, no internet
Ben: Oil, Lazerus & Uni
If Tony & Josh can source 2x PC’s each that should be plenty.

Goal:

Community development/ build relationships. Practice organisation skills. Put the community room PC’s to some use. Provide some entertainment that’s different to the normal.

Preparation:

Install required software onto church PC, may require admin access
Host server on Oil, see that other computers can connect sans internet.
Confirm server compatibility with linux?
Food? Drinks already in fridge for sale.

Event:Assuming all goes well this week, aim for a trial run on Sunday 25th after 10am service.Even if it’s just a half hour and people find that it works out then I’ll call that a success. As a backup plan I could also set the room to run Artemis, with a laptop on the data projector it will suit the room well.

WHEN: 25/10 & 01/11 at 11am

WHERE: Lutheran church Community room

WHAT: Minecraft, Artemis

WHAT TO BRING: Guests need nothing, responsible people see above.

88 Land Voyage; Starscape analysis, Twice Infinity

Infinity goes beyond beyond, With the perpetual increase of entropy and gradual consumption of enthalpy, what might exist past the vastness of time?

Mugen

Not 100% sure this will go ahead, Last time I organised a trip here every day less people could tag along. It should be a little warm, at the MtWalsh campground there are BBQ's
If its just me then I'll probably eat only oranges and muslii bars and go skinny dipping at Utopia road rockpools. Otherwise Backgammon, Trekking, Red Wine and Bridge are on the cards.

WHEN: 19-20th September

WHERE: Mostly Mt Walsh national park at Biggenden. About an hours drive south of Bundy.
Possibly go for a swim [here] an extra half hour south of Biggenden, 4WD recommended.

WHAT: Firegazing, Stargazing, infinity analysis & Wizards Duel.

WHAT TO BRING: Toggs, Swag, Beverages, Food, Sunscreen, Wizards hat.

87: Themeless

Couple of people have been asking When is the next Sojourn? So I probably should do one a month out to let youse all organise your lives around it. But this time you only get a few days notice.
We have a service Sunday church event on the 13th which means I may sleep in till lunchtime. so Sat evening seems like a the best idea to me.

Since everybody is an individual it takes a while to notify people eg..
Kyle likes the Steam events and contacting him there is reliable. but only if the weather is cool.
Cam and Bryden both really need verbal notices and often already have plans.
Josh is easy to contact but has very busy afternoons so the weekend works best
Tony has lots of free time but would rather be at the beach is the sun is up.
Ben rarely has a Friday eve free and prefers weeknights, easy to contact though.
Duncan rarely comes if his kids are around.
Scotty always joins in if he is in town and we are having it at the beach.
Eddie has to check his roster each week and works nights a lot.
Alex prefers school nights but cannot stay too late.

WHEN: 12 September evening

WHERE: Ben's Place

WHAT: Artemis, Pathfinder, League of Legends, Fun-Employed

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink here

WHO: Who's expected to be coming? Who is coming late? Who is leaving early? Who doesn't have a computer?

86: =++1/2

Next weekend, Raskal's calender shows nothing on friday and he is not rostered on for work (If thats relevant). There is half a tree in the backyard also, so lets try something a little different again.

Last fortnight we played fun-employed went wine tasting and chillaxed to some jass beats out of town. This weekend the plan is to start off with a Walker style Sojourn for friday eve, sliding over into Saturday. Subsequently sleep in then bacon it up in the backyard with cards campfire, do y'think that sounds delightfull? Eventually finishing early afternoon so I can sleep a bit before the Holy day.

If need be, the spare rooms can be clensed and purified, swags rolled out and blankets distributed to the homeless. Just give us the 10:4 before you knock on the door, I cant have everybody walk the dinosaur.

WHEN: Friday 5pm till Saturday 5pm

WHERE: Ben's Place

WHAT: Artemis, LoL, KillingFloor, followed by Fun-Employed, betrayal at house on the hill, First the Worst.

84: School Apocalypse

This post school apocalyptic sojourn is schedules for Thursday. A midweek LAN like we used to have all the time. Though none of us would really notice if school was permanently suspended.

I'd like to trial my new modem with 5 people on the same connection. Other than that I think Fun-employed and terraria are on the cards. Backup games are Artimis, Warframe, Frozen Throne, EYE and Diablo 2.

WHEN: Thursday 9th till late

WHERE: Tony's place (Bargara)? Ben's Place?

WHAT: What games are planned as major events?

81: April's 18

Birthdays are fun, and some more memorable than others. Come and join in to celebrate April's 18th on saturday. Planning to catchup with a few people, chat and share a meal. Bring some drinks to share as well. Also gonna play some computer games if you're into that sort of thing. Oh and it's the last weekend of the school holidays.

Warframe; You will need to patch and confirm your account details beforehand. It’s a free to play space ninja power rangers FPS.
But it’s a ~6.1GB download that steam cannot backup. So you really need it running beforehand.
Assuming we have four people to give this a go I’d like to try teamwork to unlock new map areas, possibly the tutorials. Otherwise we could level up effectively and gather mods in an extraction/ defence mission. But the fun part though is: being a space ninja power ranger, running up walls and getting stealth kills. I was the yellow ranger two years ago when we were in the Warframe beta test (closed beta I think?) but have now switched to a Porygon color scheme, to hurt them in their eyes. Orange didn’t work so well so I couldn’t be a neon Genin, like Naruto. If you want to join a guild I'm in Orcis [steamlink][WIX homepage]

League of Legends, first win of the day. URF mode should be over so I’m happy to skip this and move on to…

Diablo 2; The moon eclipse last time was less impressive that I had anticipated. But Diablo was better. I’m impressed by the voice acting and cutscenes. Between minecraft and Path of Exile, I’d say the graphics have withstood the test of time too. We have not cheated or collected nifty items from old save games at all and have slowly played through the story, listening to all the gossip along the way. I think our party consisted of a Druid, sorcerer, assassin, necromancer, barbarian and a paladin.
Lest see,
VRKnight (Tony) was the paladin, who specialised in Auras.
Arcasian (Josh) was a barbarian? Then became a Druid, to roll bolders of fire through doorways.
minisorcerer (Cameron) chose a sorcerer and his little legs couldn’t keep up with the party.
Newt the third (Marc) assassinated people for a while with his traps
Dave the Builder (Alex) was our duplicate sorcerer.
Anoiki (Ben) summoned skeletons to work for him, but not too many friends because they crowd the doorways.

For later on if you want the same style of play, I've picked up Torchlite 2, which is a six player co-op game and found a nice [website] that lists a lot of other co-op games we may like to try, for when April gets older.

WHEN: April 18th, 5pm till late

WHERE: Ben's backyard BBQ

WHAT: What?

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink there

WHO: Who's expected to be coming? Who is coming late? Who is leaving early? Who doesn't have a computer?

80: an Easter Moon Rises

A great noise came from the sea heralding a red moon razing the east. At 5:37 it will begin its ascent on the sky, purported to reach its crescendo at eleven. At which point I've planed to take a sabbatical and journey to the outside world for a gander. The rest of the eve we will be worshiping the fluorescent lights and observing the triangulation of our pixel trifecta.

Though the preferential alternative was to spend a day with the absence of watered ablutions then retire under a chandelier of stars, but this was not to be. Organising oneself is not so challenging but as a communal expedition it has not come to pass.

Dependant on who it is that replies and confirms their attendance, our schedule for the evening includes: Diablo2, the old one that I've never actually played. Copies should be available for transferral on the night. League of Legends, the old favourite that can easily consume an evening on its own. Warframe, was once on the cards, two years ago I believe, and it is worth another look. Pleas resurrect your old accounts and be patched up and ready to run on the night. For some good old power ranger space ninja FPS action. Then a small break is also scheduled because of [this].

WHEN: Saturday 4th April

WHERE: Residence of Ben

WHAT: Diablo2, LoL, Warframe

WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring some beverages and other consumables to share,
PC (2 old unreliable backup spares onsite)
Ethernet cable (optionally an extra switch)
Powerboard (probably not needed,  but be prepared)
Sunny disposition

78: day-D

Zombies are AWAL, I only really liked Stubbs anyway. So instead it is day-D.

D is for
Don't Starve
Dino Beatdown: Orion's Hoard
Divine Cybermancy
Dino D-Day
Depth

I don't think Don't Starve will last a long time, alternatively its a really long game. Punching T-Rex can be fun for a few 20min rounds and is now just $0.99. The divine cybermancy got a workout when Levi was present and I've a competent healer now as well as furiously fast frog. More dinosaurs, couldn't leave this one out, possibly only played once previously when Sam was in town. Finally Depth the dodge counterstrike mod with sharks that I thought was going to play like Hydrophobia Prophesy but disappointingly doesn't.

Also note that I'll be a church a little later than normal on account of our AGM and being responsible and stuff. Text/ring for more details as I may leave my place unlocked i.e. for baby sitting during the AGM. Lego's in the sunroom.

WHEN: Sunday 22nd after service

WHERE: Ben is happy to host

WHAT: Oh, I mentioned this already.

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink here

77: a Lenten Journey

On account of a scheduled fortnightly Vampire the Requiem, scheduled for Sunday evenings, sojourns for Lent will also take place Sunday evening on alternating weeks. Out of the ordinarily Levi will also be physically here this weekend. By then Levi and I should both have a DX11 compatible graphics cards working again, but I don’t think there are that many intensive games. I can’t recall the last time I felt the need to turn off shadows or shading. Possibly in Dark Souls, but that’s mainly because it was a buggy PC port.

I’ve had a decent bash at Don’t Starve now, it’s similar to Terraria in that you quickly have to build resources to make your lifestyle sustainable and the most fun thing is discovering how the game works and how to use all these things. So another session on it will progress faster but be less fun.

Recently played a couple of Frozen Throne mods, wow League of Legends has come a long way since grass roots. Almost every match feels like an ARAM but the game modes change as well. Quite happy to go back to LoL where I have a vague notion of what items I want to get and which shop to find them in.

E.Y.E wouldn’t mind another campaign session in this. Partially because Levi is in town but I like the game still. It has plot, and is a 32 player co-op FPS RPG dungeon crawl hack and slash. But I’m only game if we can put a few hours into it as I’ve done the first missions several times now. I suppose we could run the scenarios a few times?

Nicole really enjoyed Artemis when we played over Christmas. I’m keen for another session as well and can setup the TV as our main screen. I still have a couple of gift able copies as well as the client files if anybody is keen on hosting their own game.

Galacon is a new game that I found out about this week, free to play on steam in which you use circles to make triangles that swarm circles so that you can make more triangles. When such a simple concept is fun I can understand why graphics card development cycles have slowed.

Orion:Hoard, is a dinosaur fighting game that me and Josh have been playing on and off for a month, you get to punch dinosaurs until they go invisible.

WHEN: Feb 1, 5pm till Late

WHERE: Wind Room

WHAT: Don't Starve, LoL, E.Y.E, Artemis, Galacon & Orion.

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink here

76: water at the gates

Australia day again and again the weekend snuck up on me. My plan is to visit the beach, BBQ some snags and spend all day playing enemy at the gates and don't starve alone. Though I may have a little foray into town to help with the ROTARACT fundraising BBQ for the council at the botanical gardens. Also my spare graphics card does not run DX11, so I may be a little limited for choice.

Is it three years ago now that it was raining and Sam was intending to drive down from Rocky but couldn't get here because the roads started to flood?

WHEN: 26th January

WHERE: Tony's beach resort

WHAT: LoL, Enemy at the gates, Don't Starve together Beta.

WHAT TO BRING: Arrange food and drink below, if you want.

WHO: Who's expected to be coming? Who is coming late? Who is leaving early? Who doesn't have a computer?
