73: Late Lunch

Deo will have departed, so I may sort out something pre the 30th. Since we are not going to Supernova we will have saved a bit of cash and instead of ending November sporting a moustache I'll still be Bearded Ben. Rather than sequels I've scheduled games that we are familiar with but have not put much effort into lately.

Josh may want to shift the location to his house, so watch this space. Also Ben will be out of town from the 15th until the 30th of December and therefore will be unavailable to participate in any events. If you still want me to organise something in December then Tony or Josh will need to tell me the date and I'll come up with a theme. Otherwise you could organise yourselves?

Sometime this week I'll post my terraria server IP, the goal will be to enter the temple. I'll use a world where hardmode has been unlocked but not much else is happening.

72: 28-31-28

Next Thursday I plan to start to plan to go to Supernova. If it’s on my lonesome then I’ll stay home but if anybody wants to carpool then I’m happy to drive down. Would you want to go for the full three days? Taking a little time off work or just the bare minimum? The crush should be finished by then but it is not always so I may not get another chance to go for a while.

If I do go then I’ll probably try to cosplay Van of the Dawn, mostly I’d need a big hat and a black coat with tails. I'd also do Movember, otherwise I'm more inclined to be bearded and kitesurfing.

But for today the plan is to have two Artemis ships running at the same time, or try a level 4 space station defence. Granted though not many of you like this game, So the backup will be … I don’t know, seems to me that every game over the last 6 months has been disliked by somebody. So, if nobody has a couple of xbox/PS3 controllers with which to trial my Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Storm 3 Full Burst fighting game with then I suppose we go back to power ranger Terraria (or at least Hard Mode+).

Land voyage: Supernova #2 on the weekend of the 28th of November

If I can't get this off the ground then it will be a weekend of sequels

Josh, Busy

Marc, on call

Tony, Alice, Cam, Eddie, Sasha, Kyle Charli, Eddie, Sam?

WHEN: 4PM on 28/10/14

71: Artemis 2

Ever played SpaceTeam on your phone? It’s a shouting game where everybody talks at once. How about Mechwarrior Online or World of Tanks? Artemis the spaceship simulator is probably still on sale at the humble bundle and I think it looks cool. I tested is with Tony when he would have rather watched Bathurst and the game loads. But it seems to me the more people we cane controlling the ship the simpler (more efficient) it is to drive. I think I still have three copies of the captains program, but the game itself has no DRM and nominally each captain can give a temporary console to 5 people. So if somebody else actually wants to play this and run you own ship then ask. Otherwise I’ll set youse up with a clone console.

Other than that I’m game to give Dota2 and TF2 a go. And though this may be short notice again I’ve nothing else planned to do tomorrow and telling people a month out doesn’t seem to really make any difference in who turns up or how smoothly things run. Given all the above I have scheduled into my diary a Sojourn the same as this for next Tuesday the 21^st of October.

Other possible backup games this week include: Marvel Heroes, LoL, Power Rangers Terraria, Orion: prelude, Chivalry, Robocraft, Civ5, MWO. All of which I have current, updated and ready to go.

Supernova land voyage?

I’m still keen to make a weekend of this on the 28-30^th of November.
Anybody else want to carpool? Catch up in Bris? Know a good place to camp? Keen to cosplay?

Debrief:

Well that didn’t start out as a particularly relaxing sojourn: With work ringing me a few times, running out of internet. Not having games installed or up to date. But in the end we had a decent run through Marvell Heroes and found an area where we were all gaining XP. Then there was the Camembert, Brie and Parmesan, Alice brought chocolate too, which is quite nioce with the gooey cheeses. Since Kyle and Eddie didn’t turn up we played a few games of League of legends instead of either TF2 or DOTA2.

From the issues we have had the last few times I wonder if it is not prudent to have an offline game available at all times? I have crisis wars, Killing floor and Sacred2 for this purpose. But just as I was about to hand out my HDD Tony was able to resurrect the internet. Terraria or Minecraft may be more fun as locally hosted alternatives but I believe they would still require internet authentication to launch.

69: No Tutorial

Recently been on a bit of a hobby horse about games that force me to do a tutorial and then subsequently so little diversity that I end up moving onto the next game where the learning might actually be a challenge. I’m a clever cookie and if the “Esc” button doesn’t help me figure out in 1.5 seconds weather I should use “w” or “up arrow” to more forward then the game probably uses “Ctrl+q” to quaff potions.

Oh yeah, so “Marvel Hero's 2015” appears to let you co-op as soon as your hero has been selected. And though you will have to guess which hero you will probably like its fine you can change later (and 25level in any champ can aid all subsequent heroes) assuming the game is remotely enjoyable. Play it like an ARAM is probably the best advice to start with, forget about the loot drops and forget about min/maxing. You can do that later if you find you like the game.

Other than that I wouldn’t mind having another look at Dino:Orion Prelude, or whatever its new name is. Apparently it’s changed from an arena FPS tower defence to an F2P MMO. But since I haven’t playtested it I don’t intend to try it this weekend. Too much install wars for me lately. I think I spent most of the last Sojourn watching gymnastics and drinking rum. Not bad in itself but not quite the fun that I set out to achieve, and I didn’t end up sharing my fun rum either.

Also I was going to make this on Sunday afternoon but then I got a better offer and Friday was empty so…

67 Pre-Crush

30th is the start date of the crush, it is also the final deadline for the RPGmaker competition. I dont really think it is worth playtesting my entry on sunday because I would have no time to impliment any gamebalancing. So ask me in another month how that went.

From now on I'll be on permenant call though that rarely interrupted sojourns it is mildly inconvenient to bail out on a game of LOL to run statistical analysis of the nir performance checks. Incidentally now I know why LOL has issues on connecting, its to do with the way QOS is run on this model of modem, but I have been too lazy record the settings and change over to a new one as yet.
